Great post Morgan! Establishing a definitive brand is a huge part of proper marketing and overall client outreach. A good way for small businesses (who already have the fundamentals in place) is to ask existing customers what lasting impression they have--whether it's a small mom-and-pop shop or a more cutting-edge company. Once you have a clear vision which direction you want to move in and how you want to personify your business, the marketing strategy will be much easier to develop. Also, you have to be patient as it does take time for a brand to reach the masses. After all, Apple didn't become a success overnight :) ~Vishal
Companies that sell products on a national or international level have the most to gain from web marketing. Imagine a local auto body shop. They have no incentive to try and connect with customers on the other side of the country. A simple website with their hours of operation and customer testimonials may be all the web presence they need (See also Consumer-Generated Marketing). However, major retailers within the global market must use web marketing aggressively. The easiest way to connect with a scattered customer base in a cost effective manner is to engage with users on the Internet.
For years, I used to blog a lot about SEO and link building, and I won some cool awards for my writing.
