Digital media is the most readily available media on the planet. Statistically, the average American spends approximately 11 hours a day looking at some form of screen, exposing themselves to an average of 5,000 ads each day. Digital media is quickly becoming our go-to source for news, entertainment, social interaction, and shopping–and it doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. Advertisers have shifted their focus to digital marketing in a big way, with mobile-friendly advertising, social media campaigns, podcasts, and internet ads to cater to the ever-expanding market.
Great point, Adrian. At my last company we did a few projects for companies that were re-branding or starting fresh altogether. Once we had their branding and logo finalized then we were able to start on social media profile build out and local citations, even with just a "coming soon" page on the website. This also helps to get a bit of SEO momentum started so that the site can be found at least for the company name when it is launched!

Companies that sell products on a national or international level have the most to gain from web marketing. Imagine a local auto body shop. They have no incentive to try and connect with customers on the other side of the country. A simple website with their hours of operation and customer testimonials may be all the web presence they need (See also Consumer-Generated Marketing). However, major retailers within the global market must use web marketing aggressively. The easiest way to connect with a scattered customer base in a cost effective manner is to engage with users on the Internet.
These aren't the only marketing strategies that can be executed for next to nothing, so don't limit yourself. Do your research, diversify your strategies, and keep progressing toward your ultimate goals. The beauty of these strategies is that they can work on a passable level with a minimum investment, but if you invest more money, the payoffs start increasing proportionally. You can start off with almost no investment, and by the time you start earning enough revenue to double down on these strategies, you'll be experienced enough to know how to maximize your ROI.

The new digital era has enabled brands to selectively target their customers that may potentially be interested in their brand or based on previous browsing interests. Businesses can now use social media to select the age range, location, gender and interests of whom they would like their targeted post to be seen by. Furthermore, based on a customer's recent search history they can be ‘followed’ on the internet so they see advertisements from similar brands, products and services,[38] This allows businesses to target the specific customers that they know and feel will most benefit from their product or service, something that had limited capabilities up until the digital era.

1. Not having an onsite content strategy. Prior to Google's Panda algorithm update last year, it was common to see small, one-page microsites dominating the search engine results pages (SERPs) based on the strength of their inbound link profiles -- the links pointing to these microsites from external websites -- rather than the quality of their onsite content.

Collaborative Environment: A collaborative environment can be set up between the organization, the technology service provider, and the digital agencies to optimize effort, resource sharing, reusability and communications.[36] Additionally, organizations are inviting their customers to help them better understand how to service them. This source of data is called User Generated Content. Much of this is acquired via company websites where the organization invites people to share ideas that are then evaluated by other users of the site. The most popular ideas are evaluated and implemented in some form. Using this method of acquiring data and developing new products can foster the organizations relationship with their customer as well as spawn ideas that would otherwise be overlooked. UGC is low-cost advertising as it is directly from the consumers and can save advertising costs for the organisation.

9. Another important thing to keep a check on the progress of your competitors. Compare yourself with them to figure out how to circumvent them. Look at their websites and content that they are written on the web, which of the internet marketing techniques they are using to get good results. Try to follow those them and it should help you getting good results for your internet marketing campaign too.

You are probably well aware of search engines and how they are used by almost everybody to find information, a product or a service of any type. What you might not understand is how certain websites are ranked at the top of the results and just how much this can benefit a business. Fortunately for businesses, Google has a Keyword Tool that allows you too see how many people both globally and locally search for your particular service or product on average each month. As an example we are going to look at “Window Tinting” in the eyes of a window tints supplier.

Consumers are increasingly spending more of their time on their smartphones. This is critical for businesses to take into account when formulating their website strategy, because if your website is not mobile-friendly, then it might as well not even exist. Not only is mobile-friendliness important for SEO purposes (Google heavily takes mobile-friendliness into account when ranking websites), but for a functional user experience as well. Consumers are not going to take the time to pinch and zoom to press your badly optimized checkbox on a mobile website. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance for businesses to go over their entire mobile website and make sure everything functions properly.
